5 Programmatic Thrust
The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
Economic Development
National economic trends, such as unstable employment, and the widening gap between wealth and poverty are the basis for the development of Financial Fortitude. Financial Fortitude is a process that will help program participants to set and define goals, develop a plan to achieve them, and to put the plan into action.
The Kansas City, MO chapter executes Financial Fortitude Fridays a four-week education program in collaboration with the DEED Foundation.
Educational Development
The Kansas City, MO Alumnae chapter is committed to investing in the development of youth through are Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, EMBODI and Cotillion programs.
International Awareness & Involvement
The Kansas City, MO Alumnae chapter supports our national projects in South Africa and Kenya. In 2025, the chapter will be leading educational development and reading programs in Jamaica.
Physical & Mental Health
Healthy Lifestyle: Total Woman: Mind, Body and Spirit is the theme of this initiative, focusing on physical wellness, emotional wellness, self-care, awareness and advocacy. The Red S.H.O.E. challenge encourages members to engage in healthy behaviors. S.H.O.E. acronym means Self-care, Healthy Options, and Exercise.
Political Awareness & Involvement
The Social Action committee promotes leadership, advocacy, and empowerment to effect social change and public policy. This committee is the vehicle through which the Sorority establishes a position on an emerging or perennial public issue, determines the action to be taken, and directs the actions of our members. Voter registration is a core component of our work as the Delta Athenaeum is a permanent voter registration site.
