Delta GEMS and Delta Academy Open House

 

Delta G.E.M.S.  (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) was created to catch the dreams of African American adolescent girls in the 9th – 12th grades, and is a natural outgrowth and expansion for the continuation of the highly successful Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy. Delta GEMS provides the frame work to actualize those dreams through the performance of specific tasks that develop a CAN DO attitude.

 

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a program that caters to young women who are currently in the 6th through 8th grade. The program offers mentoring, educational activities and service learning opportunities to the participant. The Delta Academy program’s major emphasis is mathematics, science and technology, and helps young women to excel and pursue careers in these areas. Anchored in the basic tenets of the Sorority, Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.
